Two years ago on a very similar Saturday, we drove down to the Pearl Brewery with the intention of kicking off our style blog. We had a trunk full of outfits and an iPhone 5s to document the day. Oh, you read that correctly – an iPhone 5s. We stopped in a parking garage and found out that the walls painted at the top were a lime green and couldn’t resist this brightly colored, and most importantly, private back-drop. After our shoot there and a few other Pearl hotspots, we uploaded our pictures to our Tumblr and Instagram over the next few weeks. You read what happened during that time frame – but it’s only fitting that we came back, better dressed and better equipped this time.
The Pearl Brewery has grown into an epicenter of culture and to-do here in San Antonio. In those two years, construction on the Hotel Emma has completed; hosting beautifully redone rooms, a rooftop oasis and the critically acclaimed Supper (review to come!) Restaurants and businesses cannot sign their leases quick enough to take advantage of the brewery’s non-stop traffic. The Pearl is really the place to be for anyone in the city. During that time, we’ve grown too – our styles and aesthetics. We’ve both graduated and are settling into life post-grad (I mean…. How settled is anyone after graduation?)
For these looks we wanted to showcase our favorite way to stay warm on the three days a year it’s chilly in Texas – Our fatigues. Fatigue jackets have sprouted at every major retailer and on style stars these past few years as the ‘cool’ layer. It can instantly add a casual feel to a sequin dress or a pair of dress pants. We threw ours over a neutral color pallet and added our favorite accessories. For me you know anything in a floral print is the way to go – which is why these $10 UO platforms were a must have, and Patricio showcases the best way to dress up the sweatpant. Feeling fatigued after this read? Spring is the perfect season to snag this versatile layer right before they go on sale for the summer.
